McMinnville Community Media is excited to again offer this opportunity to students during the summer and the upcoming 24-25 school year. The new Production Intern program is for those interested in live TV event broadcasting.
Production interns will receive instruction from broadcast professionals using industry-standard video cameras, replay systems, recording and streaming technology, and other broadcast tools. Production interns will attend on-site broadcast events to maximize a real-life learning environment. They will receive instruction, preparation, training, experience, and debriefing. Work produced by Field Interns will air on local cable TV channels, stream via the internet, and be available on-demand on the MCM-TV YouTube archive.
This internship highlights opportunities to acquire skills and participate in professional live broadcasting under the guidance of industry professionals. MCM-TV Field Interns will gain first-hand experience in single and multi-camera television production settings and learn, participate, and contribute to local TV telecasts.
Participants in the MCM-TV Field Intern program have the opportunity to
Strengthen and enrich our community by creating and sharing local media
Accumulate volunteer hours contributing to a non-profit organization
Learn to be part of a live television broadcast production team
Access individualized instruction with television professionals
Operate in a fast paced, on location production environment
Develop skills in camera operation, lighting, switching, audio, more
Work with state of the art production, streaming, record, replay equipment
Gain valuable experience for college applications or career prospects
Eligibility
Applicants need to be currently enrolled in a local High School or equivalent home school programs. Preference will be given to applicants that have experience in Video Production via a school program or personal interest. Reliable transportation to events in McMinnville is crucial, so please plan accordingly.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors. Must be able to respond to sounds quickly.
Length of Internship
The length of internship will vary depending on production schedules and student availability. Students will receive detailed schedules when accepted into the program.
Application Process
Interested individuals should complete the linked application. Applications will be reviewed by MCM-TV staff, and select applicants will complete an interview in person at MCM-TV. After the interview process, interns will be notified via phone call of their acceptance.
Evaluation
Interns will receive feedback on their performance during the internship. Evaluations will be given at the end of the internship term and will be signed by relevant MCM-TV staff. Evaluations will be done by an interview, and follow a rubric that is attached to the application. Rubric based evaluation will be based upon performance during internship and exit interview.
Letter of Recognition
Interns will have the opportunity to earn a letter of recognition from MCM-TV staff at the end of their internship term. Letters of recognition will be given to those that complete the full internship term, and who receive at least a passing grade on all rubric elements.
Schedule of Events
Production Interns will participate in a variety of on-location television broadcasts and training sessions at the MCM studio. The schedule of these television broadcasts are subject to change due to staff and intern availability.
